Frequently Asked Questions

Have any query? Select the category that suits you best and find your answer. If you cannot find it, please feel free to post in the forums OR mail us at info@designchords.com

We give our clients 10 days to select the winner(s).

Your entry feedback should be visible immediately after you post it. If it doesn’t appear automatically, try refreshing the page in your browser. Else contact us using the link at the bottom.

The creatives who are working for your project need an assurance that you will make the payment to them if their design is selected and not just playing around to see what buzz your contest generates. To ensure this we ask for the payment upfront and then we activate the contest. However if you don’t receive at least 20 entries (10 for projects less than 100$) to your project and don’t want to purchase any of those entries, you are entitled to a full refund!

Currently we are accepting payment from Indian clients through cheque or netbanking. For international clients use PayPal for receiving payments. We will soon be introducing further channels for making payments.

It’s upto the you to decide how much you want to spend on a particular project which is within the budget. There is a specific minimum (50$ or Rs.2500) to post a project. But keep in mind that while you want to run your project as economically as possible, it’s a known fact that the more you offer, the greater the number of quality submissions you will receive. A typical 100$ and above project can fetch you anything above 60-70 design ideas.

As long as the payment has not been made you can edit/cancel your project. Once the payment has been made and the project has started, you cannot cancel the project.

To post a project, we charge a 15% commission on the award(s) you decide to pay the winning Designer at the end of your project.

Your entry must be either a JPEG (.jpeg) or a PNG (.png) file for us to display it correctly. The best size to use when creating your entry is a square image greater than 100px wide. This will allow the image to be seen in its entirety when a user is in the gallery.

One additional pointer is to avoid uploading PNG (.png) files with a transparent background as they don't show up well in Internet explorer.

You should get a confirmation message as soon as you post your entry and it should be visible immediately. If it doesn’t appear automatically, try refreshing the page in your browser.

For the Indian designers, we can provide cheque, netbanking or Paypal. For the international designers, we just have Paypal as of now. We are looking to add alternate options for our international designers. Please post in the forums if you have some suggestions.

There are a few things you can do to make sure that your uploaded images are displayed correctly.

  1. When you click to "upload your entry now" in a project, there is an option to upload the image. Try to ensure that the image is square and greater than 100px wide. This will help us display your image in the best way possible.
  2. Also, because the image will be displayed on RGB monitors, please make sure that the image is saved with RGB colors. You can easily do this in Adobe products by saving "for web" use. In other products, you can save to or convert to RGB colors. CMYK colors do not display correctly and we suggest you stay away from CMYK unless the buyer specifically requests images with CMYK. One benefit of "saving for web" is that the image sizes are smaller - which lets us load your image much quicker.

No and never! There’s no fee to be a member & there’s no fee to participate in a project. You get 100% of the award paid to you.

We will ask for certain personal information when you post a project as a Buyer or when your entry is chosen for an award as a Creative. We need this information in order to protect your intellectual property and arrange payments

To give feedback to entries to a project, simply go to the Project page. From there, open a design entry and you can give it both a star rating as well as comments. Star scores tell the Creative, on a scale of one to five, how well you like their entry. The comments you give can be much more specific and helpful by telling the Creative what you like and don’t like, how they could improve their entry and what revisions you’d like to see moving forward.

To submit your entry to any project, simply search the project and go to its home page and click the ‘Upload your entry now’. Give a title to the image and upload your entry. If you don’t have an account yet, you’ll be asked to create one and then you can upload your entry. Once uploaded, check back with the project frequently to see comments from the Buyer, valuable feedback and revise your entry if necessary.

To get help resolving a dispute with another user, simply choose ‘Contact Us’ from the bottom of this page. From there, you’ll be able to report a dispute. We will try our best that the problem is resolved at the earliest and peace is achieved.
